I am working on a product led alternative to Quickbooks which does the split between being more user-friendly (i.e. less confusing reconciliation, faster interface, easier to navigate, fewer options, fewer ways to shoot yourself in the foot) but also geared towards power users (keyboard shortcuts, automations, integrations with productivity tools). It's fascination that Quickbooks is the go-to tool for almost everyone doing small business accounting when their product is mediocre in so many ways.

Quickbooks isn't that hard, but it's got a lot of inconsistencies. For instance, when I'm viewing a list of customers, I have to drill way down to the individual customer edit screen to make the customer inactive, but when I'm viewing a list of transactions, I can delete one simply from the right-hand menu on the list item. Both are similar list widgets, but the actions you take to interact with the widgets are completely different. It's not hard once you learn it, but you have to learn how to use each screen individually instead of learning patterns that can be applied across different screen

My hatred for QuickBooks led me to spend days importing my books into ERPNext. IMO the only decent feature it offers is banking integrations and transaction classification

What a bunch of garbage- permission-ed system when we’ve got lightning and super low cost blockchains. They could even run their own L2.- I am typing my name in a cafe and hear some clacking sounds. I was puzzled there for a full minute to where the sound was coming from. Who thought this is a good idea?- So I finish the reservation and there is actually no product yet?

Even simpler: I wish banks would allow you to set up a requirement of MFA for transactions over a certain amount (with everyone's consent of course). My parents are not yet a concern for this stuff, but I imagine eventually they might be.So I would get a notification on my phone to approve the transaction/withdrawal.

The main fuel is the "need" to have browsers that can execute code, coupled with the ability to transfer money via the internet. JavaScript was a mistake, e-commerce was a mistake, and so is everything else that came after.Let's ask Vint Cerf whether the web was meant to run logic, or just be a document format. I bet no matter what he answers, the world would be like the GIF pronunciation "I don't care if the original creator said it's pronounced like giraffe, I'm gonna say it like gift because I KnOw BeTtEr"Internet 3 when (because I know that academia does already have an "Internet 2", altho

It gets a bit more complicated than that. I don't even regularly need things from my doctor, but I have a referral to a specialist right now, and the waiting time is around 16 months to be contacted by them. At that time they will randomly call me from a restricted number. So I must have all call screening and blocking off for probably 2 years in order to accommodate this. And I can't time it because in the past I was referred to a different one and they contacted me in only 4 months when they said 12+.
