Yeah, with love the words "open source" mean a lot less here (de facto, of course not de jure) when the resulting open source product is entirely contingent on Cloudflare's PaaS.And I think they suffer a little a little bit from their infrastructure being _comparatively_ unique. As providers go, they're on the harder end to replace with something else if you were to ever want to retarget your workloads.

Indeed, at this point it's one of the most devalued terms in software. Every week I'm reading about some product calling itself "the Operating System for XYZ." It seems like it's what you do when "platform" just feels too modest. To me, if it's not bootable, calling your product an OS just reeks of marketing sleight of hand.

You can easily be locked in as Cloudflare's suite of tools can be quite exotic, and the dev ops for them can look quite unlike anything else. But you can also easily mentally estimate the magnitude of lock-in for every weird tool or technology that you use.If you only do SPA/SSR websites over workers, then Cloudlfare has about zero lock in. Workers is a product and you're paid to develop and sell it as an employee.I 100% understand the hustle. I do the same thing.
